Central depository of Armenia became a full member of international association of national numbering agencies

YEREVAN, December 8, /ARKA/. During the General Meeting of Members of the Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA) held on November 19-21, 2014 in Indonesia, “Central Depository of Armenia” OJSC (CDA) was granted a full member status of the organization, OMX Nasdaq Armenia said.

As a full member of ANNA CDA will continue to assign ISIN (International Securities Identification Numbers) and CFI (Classification of Financial Instruments) codes making Armenian securities easily identifiable for international institutions and foreign investors. The status of a full member of ANNA will enable the CDA to vote and speak at Ordinary or Extraordinary General Meetings, inspect the annual accounts as well as participate in working groups.

To recall, CDA has been a Partner of ANNA since June, 2014 and has assigned more than 1400 identification numbers so far.

The Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA) was established in 1992 by 22 founding National Numbering Agencies for the purpose of promoting, implementing, maintaining and making available standards for securities and related financial instruments, in a uniform and accurate structure. As part of its activities, ANNA, through its member national agencies, assigns ISIN, according to ISO Standard 6166 and CFI, according to ISO Standard 10962 to securities. Currently, ANNA comprises numbering agencies from nearly 100 countries worldwide.

Central Depository of Armenia (CDA) is the only centralized registry keeper and custodian in Armenia and is a part of NASDAQ OMX Group Inc. CDA participate to the Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depository and is a member of Association of National Numbering Agencies. Starting from 2014 CDA is the registry keeper of funded pension system participants and the custodian of mandatory pension funds assets.

In January 2008, Nordic exchange operator OMX Group acquired 100% of the shares of the Armenian Stock Exchange (Armex) and the Central Depository of Armenia (CDA). After the combination of NASDAQ and OMX in February 2008, Armex and CDA became fully owned by the NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. On January 26, 2009, “Armenian Stock Exchange” ojsc was officially renamed as “NASDAQ OMX Armenia” ojsc. On June 5, 2009, “NASDAQ OMX Armenia” ojsc became the owner of 100% of the shares of the “Central Depository of Armenia” ojsc. Starting October 1, 2014 “NASDAQ OMX Armenia” ojsc and “Central Depository of Armenia” ojsc operate under “Nasdaq Armenia” brand.-0-
