Central bank chairman praises IFC for support to development projects in Armenia

YEREVAN, April 2. / ARKA /. Central Bank of Armenia chairman Artur Javadyan praised today the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for a 20 year-long effective activity in Armenia during a meeting with IFC director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Tomasz Telma.

The Central Bank said Javadyan singled out IFC’s effective involvement in projects designed to help boost economic development of the country and its financial sector.

The meeting was attended by Jan Van Beals, who will replace Thomas Lubeck as IFC director for the South Caucasus and World Bank Country Manager for Armenia Laura Bailey.

Javadyan was said to have thanked Thomas Lubeck for creating an atmosphere of mutual understanding and cooperation between the two structures, expressing hope that this effective cooperation will continue with Jan Van Beals as well.

In turn, Tomasz Telma said he was satisfied with IFC projects in Armenia and expressed hope that the new regional director will continue to work closely with the Central Bank.

The parties were said to have discussed also the latest development in the financial market of Armenia, and the initiatives that IFC is expected to support.-0-
