Armenian banks’ overdue loans grow by 8,3 percent in April

YEREVAN, June 2, / ARKA /. Overdue loans of Armenian commercial banks increased by 8,3% in April from the previous month to 40.2 billion drams, as their credit investments grew by 1%, according to the National Statistical Service.

Overdue short-term loans increased by 5,9% to 26.5 billion drams, while overdue long-term loans increased by 13.1% to 13.6 billion drams, it said. Extended loans fell by 4.4% to about 125 billion drams.

As of late April, the banks’ overall credit investments stood at 1.912.3 trillion drams, an increase of 1% from March. Loans in Armenian national currency, the dram, increased by 1.6% to 642.1 billion drams and loans in foreign currency upped by 0.7% to the equivalent of 1.270.2 trillion drams.

Total lending by Armenian banks at the end of April amounted to 2. 077.6 billion drams, a growth 0.8%.- 0-
