Investor of the new era: how the capital management culture is changing in Armenia

YEREVAN, July 28. /ARKA/. Interest in investments in Armenia is growing, but it is too early to talk about an established capital management culture. In an exclusive interview with the ARKA news agency, Khachatur Beglaryan, Head of the Private Brokerage division of Freedom Broker Armenia, looks into why investors are still cautious, which instruments are a priority today, and what the investor of the future will be like.

ARKA – How do you assess the current level of investment maturity in Armenia?

Kh. Beglaryan – If I were to evaluate it on a 10-point scale, I would give it a 4. This is not the final assessment, but a reflection of the current state of the market. Sustainable demand has not yet been built, but there is a positive trend: people are starting to ask questions, take an interest, and study. This is the main thing.

ARKA – What barriers are holding back the development of investment activity in the country?

Kh. Beglaryan – The first barrier is the insufficient financial literacy. It is folowed by distrust in systems and institutions. But if we talk about the tools, with the advent of Freedom Broker Armenia in 2023, this issue is closed. Our clients have received direct access to more than 15 global exchanges through a single application. This is a qualitatively new level.

ARKA – How has the structure of investor requests changed over the past 2-3 years?

Kh. Beglaryan – Clients have become more cautious and more often choose conservative instruments, primarily bonds. This is due to market volatility. But at the same time, interest in shares of the largest American companies remains consistently high. We are seeing a more balanced approach to portfolio formation.

ARKA – Many people think that investing is difficult. What advice would you give to beginners?

Kh. Beglaryan – Investing is a skill that requires preparation. It is important for beginners to start with basic training and take the first steps under the guidance of professionals. We provide this opportunity – both through Freedom Academy and through the personal work of our specialists.

ARKA – What is different about the Freedom Broker Armenia platform?

Kh. Beglaryan – This is a technological and at the same time intuitive system. Logging in, finding the right ticker, placing a deal – everything takes a few seconds. We have a modern, user-friendly interface that is equally suitable for both beginners and professional investors.

ARKA – What platform functions are especially useful for beginners?

Kh. Beglaryan – The mobile application provides training materials, market analytics, news, as well as technical manager support. We have created an infrastructure where a person can learn, analyze and act within one environment.

ARKA – What is the role of the Private Brokerage team?

Kh. Beglaryan – Our team is a group of qualified financial advisors, each of whom works individually. We assess the client’s goals, risks, horizons and offer personalized strategies. This is long-term work based on trust and competence.

ARKA – What investment strategies are important in 2025?

Kh. Beglaryan – Now it is especially important to maintain a balance. I recommend a 70/30 distribution in favor of conservative instruments. This model allows you to control risks and maintain growth potential.

ARKA – How do you work with client risks?

Kh. Beglaryan – Risks are part of investment life, they cannot be eliminated, but they can be managed wisely. We take into account market volatility and the individual risk profile of each client. Our task is to minimize the likelihood of losses and ensure portfolio stability.

ARKA – What global factors are most relevant for an investor from Armenia today?

Kh. Beglaryan – The growth of profitability in the US markets makes emerging markets less attractive. This also affects the Armenian investor, increasing interest in stable, profitable assets in developed countries. We see an increase in demand for foreign currency bonds and large American companies.

ARKA – Does Freedom Broker Armenia have successful cases?

Kh. Beglaryan – Yes, there are such cases, and quite a few. But I prefer to perceive them not as a source of pride, but as proof that our work makes sense. This is the result of systematic, thoughtful work with clients.

ARKA – What do you think an investor in Armenia will be like in 5 years?

Kh. Beglaryan – More mature, disciplined, financially aware. This is a person who understands that investments are not a game, but a tool for long-term stability and growth. And everything suggests that we are moving in this direction.

Freedom Broker Armenia is a licensed broker, part of the international financial group Freedom Holding Corp (NASDAQ: FRHC). The company provides direct access to American, European and regional stock markets through mobile and web platforms.-0-
