ARKA News Agency releases Press Rating of Armenian banks for 2nd Q 2015

YEREVAN, July 16. /ARKA/. ARKA News Agency has released a recurrent press rating of Armenian banks for the second quarter 2015, topped by the following banks: 1. ArmSwissBank, 2. Araratbank, 3. ACBA-CREDIT AGRICOLE BANK, 4. HSBC Bank Armenia and 5. VTB Bank (Armenia).

The OTI index that shows overall total volumes of information about banks dropped 37.5% to 1553.7 in the second quarter 2015 from 2483.9 in the second quarter of the previous year.

Compared with the first quarter of this year, the index rose 27.9% from 1214.9.

The II Q 2015 Rating contains data on only 14 of Armenia’s 21 commercial banks.

The OTI of the five banks atop the ranking stood at 1125.5 in the 2nd Q 2015 against 2255.6 in the 2nd Q 2014 and 1007.2 in the 1st Q 2015.

The share of these five banks in the overall information was 72% in the second of this year against 91% in the 2nd Q 2014 and 83% in the 1st Q 2015.

ArmSwissBank, with its 466.4, is topping the 2nd Q 2015 ranking. The bank’s index was recorded at 35.88 in the previous quarter’s Press Rating, while in the second quarter of the previous year no information was fixed on this bank.

Araratbank, with its 240.9 in the 2nd Q 2015 against 2.6 in the 1st Q 2015 and 533.09 in the second Q 2014, ranked second.

ACBA-CREDIT AGRICOLE BANK came third in the ranking – its index was 151.6 in the 2nd Q 2015 against 48.7 in the 1st Q 2015 and 397.59 in the 2nd Q 2014.

HSBC Bank Armenia is fourth with 148.6 in the 2nd Q 2015 against 0 in the previous quarter and 15.38 in the second quarter of 2014 and VTB Bank (Armenia) is fifth with 118 against 361.4 and 417.72 respectively.

For its analysis ARKA used ‘Golos Armeniyi’, ‘Respublika Armenia’, ‘Orakarg’, ‘Novoye Vremya’, ‘Delovoy Express’, ‘Hayastani Hanrapetutiun’, ‘Azg’, ‘Aravot’, ‘Haykakan Zhamanak’, ‘Hayots Ashkharh’, ‘Iravunk’, ‘Yerkir’, ‘168 Zham’, ‘Sobesednik Armeniyi’, ‘Zhoghovurd’ and ‘Zhamanak’ newspapers, as well as Internet portals of news agencies and online media Panarmenian, ARKA, Newsarmenia, Armbanks, Banks, Banker, Arminfo, Finport, Panorama, Lragir.

This press rating is based on the facts about banks’ performance reported by media. This means the higher actual awareness of bank’s performance is, the more efficient its communications policies are. No advertising information is considered in the press rating.
