Armenian commercial banks’ lending to processing industry shrinks 2.2% to AMD 169.1 billion in March

YEREVAN, May 12. /ARKA/. Armenia’s commercial banks lent AMD 169.1 billion to processing industry in March 2016 – 2.2% less than in February 2016, the Central Bank of Armenia says in a fresh issue of its monthly bulletin.

In March, loans were extended mostly in foreign currencies – 80.7% or the amount equal to 141.7 billion (2.2% decline).

Lending to processing industry in drams shrank 2.3% in March, compared with February, to AMD 27.4 billion.

Food segment dominated the banks’ aggregate lending to the processing industry in March with 31.6%. Loans extended to food producing companies in March totaled AMD 53.5 billion against AMD 54.3 billion in February.
