$95.1 million bough, $82.1 million sold by Armenia’s commercial banks last week

YEREVAN, July 17. /ARKA/. Armenia’s commercial banks bought around $95.1 million from the local foreign currency market on July 10 to 14 at the average weighted exchange rate of 478.30 drams per one USD, the Central Bank of Armenia reported on Monday.

It said the banks also bought 8.9 million euros and 1.4 billion Russian rubles at the average weighted exchange rates of 544.41 and 7.89 drams per one euro and one ruble respectively.

The banks also sold about $82.1 million, € 15.1 million and 661.4 million rubles at average weighted exchange rates of 479.70, 548.19 and 7.99 drams respectively.

No dollar exchange transactions have been effected at NASDAQ OMX Armenia stock exchange over the mentioned period.

In addition, from July 3 to July 9, the banks provided 45.1 billion drams worth loans in the national currency and $45.2 million worth loans in USD. ($ 1- AMD 478.88 drams). –0—-

Central Bank leaves refinancing rate unchanged taking into account high uncertainty in US economic policy

The Central Bank of Armenia decided today to leave the refinancing rate unchanged at 6.75% taking into account a set of factors such as  the continued high uncertainty surrounding the US economic policy, declining confidence in the global economy, growth slowdown and  a possible  weakening demand in Armenia, the head of the regulator Martin Galstyan said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Armenia’s public debt increased by 4.4% to 5.3 trillion drams – Finance Minister

Armenia's public debt as of March 31 is 5.3 trillion drams, an increase of 4.4% compared to December 31 last year, and 5.8% in dollar terms, said Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan.
