Unibank donates computer classrooms to two border schools

YEREVAN, November 26. /ARKA/. Unibank has donated advanced computer classrooms to schools in the border villages of Khachik and Shaghat, the press office of the bank reported on Monday.

‘Young people’s competitive skills at labor market depend heavily on the quality of their education.
It is impossible to ensure this quality without computers since they give school students the opportunity to become literate computer users, improve their skills in new technologies and take part in Olympiads.
Computers also open gates to remote education to children,’ the bank said.

“Not all children have access to up-to-date educational technologies. For example, it is difficult for schools in Armenia’s border villages to find financial means for purchasing advanced computer devices. Knowing these problems, Unibank is trying to solve them,” it said.

The computer classrooms in both schools were inaugurated on November 19. Unibank has already helped open as many as seven computer classrooms and ArMath labs in Armenia and Artsakh.

“The computer classroom is furnished with ten laptops, a teacher’s computer connected to Internet and an interactive whiteboard. The purchase of the computers was financed by Unibank. The bank provided also funds for the renovation of the classroom, and purchase of new furniture- comfortable tables and chairs. One should see the enthusiasm and the interest with which our children attend computer classes,” said the principal of the school in Khachik Kajik Khachatryan.

The director of the school in the village of Shaghat, Aram Harutyunyan, also highly appreciated the prospects that have opened up to the students.

“Modern educational technologies give the children from border villages the opportunity to receive the same knowledge as their peers in big cities. We are sincerely grateful to Unibank for the help. Thanks to the bank the number of computer classrooms in border areas of Armenia are increasing,” he said.

In December, Unibank is planning to open another computer classroom in the town of in Spitak. Next month the schoolchildren in Spitak will have a new computer classroom furnished with modern equipment.

Unibank Board Chairman Mesrop Hakobyan, noted that furnishing Armenian border schools with computer equipment is a long-term program, which the bank will continue into 2019 as well.

“Caring for the younger generation is the duty of each of us, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to promote the educational process. We will continue helping schools in order to enable children to receive a quality education,” he concluded. According to the tradition, the opening ceremony of computer classrooms was crowned by short quizzes among school students, the winners were given personal laptops by Unibank.

Unibank was founded in October 2001. In 2002, the bank introduced the Unistream system. The main shareholder of the bank is UNIHOLDING GG LIMITED. In 2015, the bank was reorganized into an open joint stock company. -0-
