Armenia’s public debt expected to drop to 49 percent of GDP by the end of 2019

YEREVAN, December 13. /ARKA/. Armenia’s public debt is expected to drop to 49 percent of GDP by the end of 2019, Deputy Minister of Finance Armen Hayrapetyan said during an extraordinary parliamentary meeting on Thursday. According to him, the public debt today is manageable demonstrating a downward trend.

Fitch Ratings predicted earlier that the country’s overall public debt will decrease to 51.2% of GDP in 2019 and to 48.4% in 2021.

According to Armenia’s National Statistical Committee, the total state debt at the end of September 2019 stood at $7.051.177 billion, an increase $78.169 million from the previous month. According to the Ministry of Finance, the state debt at the end of this year will be 50.3% of GDP to stand at $6.94 billion. –0–
