Unibank becomes title sponsor of Urartu football club

YEREVAN, June 30. /ARKA/. Unibank and Urartu football club announced the start of a long-term partnership. On June 27, 2025, a signing ceremony was held at the club’s training base, whereby Unibank has become the title sponsor of the club.

This partnership opens a new chapter in the club’s history, providing additional resources for the development of infrastructure, youth academy, and social projects.

“The partnership with Unibank is an important step towards the sustainable development of the club and reaching new heights. We are delighted to be working with a partner that shares our values and goals,” said club president Jevan Cheloyants.

As one of the country’s leading progressive banks, Unibank sees this partnership as an opportunity to contribute to the development of Armenian football.

“We are delighted to become the title sponsor of Urartu Football Club, a team with a strong identity and ambitious goals. We are confident that our partnership will become a solid foundation for new victories and achievements, both for the team and its fans. Unibank will continue to support the development of sports in Armenia and the promotion of healthy lifestyle values,” said Mesrop Hakobyan, Unibank Board  Chairman.

FC Urartu is a two-time Armenian champion and four-time winner of the country’s cup. The team performs successfully in national tournaments and represents Armenia with dignity on the European stage, forming a new generation of talented Armenian footballers.

After the signing ceremony, young students of the Urartu Academy presented the Chairman of the Board of Unibank with a symbolic club jersey. Mesrop Hakobyan promised to watch matches wearing this jersey, joking that the jersey has become even better with the Unibank logo.

“Unibank’s slogan is ‘Healthy Finance –Save Future’, and we sincerely believe that financial well-being begins with investment in education and sport. The Urartu club attaches great importance to the development of youth football and the training and development of young talent. We are proud of our partnership and are happy to contribute to the development of new generations of athletes,” added Mesrop Hakobyan.

David Shahbagyan, CEO of FC Urartu, noted that the club’s vision coincides with that of Unibank. He emphasized that the team is always open to cooperation with those who share their ideas.

 “In addition to the main goal of training football players, it is also important to raise good people. Our children receive not only a football education, but also an upbringing that will allow them to become worthy citizens of our country,” David Shahbagyan concluded.

The first official match after signing the sponsorship contract will be against the Belarusian club Neman in the UEFA Conference League. That evening, the team will take to the field for the first time in their new uniforms with the Unibank logo.-0-
