Amount of Armenian banks’ credit portfolios and notes payable slash in first half of e year by 2.1%

YEREVAN, July 30, /ARKA/. The amount of Armenian banks’ credit portfolios and notes payable slashed in the first half of the year by 2.1% of 19.1 billion Drams to 908.2 billion Drams, the Central Bank of Armenia said in its survey of the banks’ operations in the first half of 2010.

According to the survey, standard credits and bills receivable in the banks’ total portfolio stood at 869.2 billion drams at the end of June, making 95.7% of the total debt.

The volume of standard credits and notes payable in the first half dropped by 13.6 billion Drams or 1.5%. The volume of controlled debt and credits stood at 18.7 billion Drams against 23.4 billion Drams at the beginning of the second quarter, while non-standard credits fell to 14 billion Drams from 16.3 billion Drams.

According to the Central Bank, the volume of suspicious debts rose to 6.4 billion drams from 4.8 billion Drams at the beginning of quarter two. There are 21 commercial banks in Armenia with 393 branches. ($1 – 370.16 Drams). -0-
