Pashinyan: Regional Situation Increases Inflation Risks in Armenia

YEREVAN, March 26. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan commented on the correlation between pension increases and rising inflation.

Earlier, Central Bank of Armenia Chairman Martin Galstyan stated that increasing pensions and benefits in Armenia could lead to a 0.1%-0.2% increase in inflation by the end of the year.

“Inflation is a fact. Inflation risks are created more by the situation in the region. But I am confident that we will manage these risks as best we can,” Pashinyan said at a briefing.

Starting April 1, the pensions of 623,353 people will increase by 10,000 drams or more. The pensions of 39,594 people will increase by approximately 8,500 drams. There are also plans to increase benefits for citizens with disabilities by 10,000 drams ($1 = 377.2 drams).
