Own capital of Armenian insurers reduced by 0.9% in the 4th quarter of 2010 making 12.5 billion drams

YEREVAN, March 31. /ARKA/. Own capital of Armenian insurance companies was 12.5 billion drams at the end of the 4th Q versus the 3rd Q reduced by 0.9%, survey of CB Armenia on the activity of insurance companies for the 4th Q states.

In compliance with CB information, non-distributed losses of insurance companies by the results of 4th Q were 979 million drams versus the losses at the end of the 3rd Q – 152 million drams.

As of December 31, total size of charter capital of insurance companies was about 12.1 billion drams increased by 10.3%.

Total assets of insurers of Armenia were 25.6 billion drams at the end of December versus 19.7 billion drams, cash money and their equalized amounts – 331 million drams versus 32 million on September 31, 2010, total liabilities – 13.1 billion drams increased by 85% and the size of insurance reserves – 2917 million drams (remained unchanged in the 4th Q).

There were 11 insurance companies operating in Armenia as of December 31, 2010, of which 9 are included in CB reporting. Control over the insurance market is implemented by CB Armenia since January 1, 2006 where the system of unified financial control is operating. ($1 – 369.11 drams). -0-
