Armenian dram devaluates 0.9% against Dollar in March

YEREVAN, March 31. /ARKA/. Consumer prices in Armenia went 0.8% up in March, compared with February, as the Armenian dram weakened by 0.9 percentage point against the U.S. dollar, the National Statistical Service of Armenia reported on Thursday.

In March 2011, compared with December 2010, consumer prices leapt 5.2%, and the national currency slipped 2.2% against the dollar.

According to the statistical report, consumer prices rose 2.9% and the dram lost 3.6 percentage points of its value in March 2011, compared with the same month a year earlier.

In March, the dollar traded at 368.39 drams, on average – 6.5% less than a year before.

On March 31, the dollar traded at 369.11 drams. -0-
