Areximbank-Gazprombank Group awards WW II Armenian veterans

YEREVAN, May 6. / ARKA /. On the eve of May 9 Victory Day, the Russian-owned Areximbank – Gazprombank Group handed gifts and financial assistance to a group of Armenian veterans of World War II as part of a social program called ‘Across the country and in the interest of every veteran,’ according to a bank’s press release.

“Your courage, heroism and sacrifice for the sake of future generations will always be for us a matter of pride and emulation. There is nothing that can pay our common obligation to you. These gifts – a small fraction of what we can do to please our veterans on the eve of the Great Victory “, the chief executive director of the bank, Armen Khandkaryan, was quoted as saying.

He wished the veterans peaceful sky, good health and welfare and prosperity to their families. Khandkaryan also expressed special thanks to Russian ambassador to Armenia, Vyacheslav Kovalenko and the Russian embassy for providing the opportunity to congratulate the veterans on the Victory Day.

The award ceremony was held at the embassy of the Russian Federation on the eve of the official reception on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the Great Victory.

Areximbank-Gazprombank Group (formerly Areximbank) was established in 1998 to handle financial flows between Armenia and Russia. It is a principled member of VISA International and MasterCard International payment systems. In 2007 it joined Armenian ArCa payment system. The bank is owned fully by Russian Gazprombank. It has 6 branches in Yerevan and 9 in regions.

According to ARKA data, as of March 31, 2011 the bank’s assets stood at 80.7 billion Drams, liabilities at 65.7 billion Drams, total capital rose to 15.1 billion Drams, the authorized capital stood at 12.3 billion Drams, the outstanding credit portfolio stood at 55.4 billion Drams deposits at 33.9 billion Drams. In the first quarter of 2011 the bank earned 194.9 million Drams in net profits. -0-
