Total assets of Сentral bank of Armenia increase by 0.54% in quarter one

YEREVAN, May 31. / ARKA /. Total assets of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) increased by 0.54% (5 billion drams) in the first quarter of this year, to 929,621,721,000 drams, according to CBA’s financial report for the first three months of 2011.

According to the report, CBA’s foreign currency assets grew by 3.5% (6,544,272,000 drams) to 200,646,081,000 drams. Foreign currency assets accounted for 78.4% of all assets ( 728,975,640,000 drams), by 1,535,592,000 less from 2010 late December.

The report says also CBA’s total commitments dropped by 0.3% to 943,317,555,000 while its aggregated capital grew by 37.1% to minus 13,695,834,000 drams. ($1 – 376.78 drams ).  -0-

Central Bank leaves refinancing rate unchanged taking into account high uncertainty in US economic policy

The Central Bank of Armenia decided today to leave the refinancing rate unchanged at 6.75% taking into account a set of factors such as  the continued high uncertainty surrounding the US economic policy, declining confidence in the global economy, growth slowdown and  a possible  weakening demand in Armenia, the head of the regulator Martin Galstyan said at a press conference on Tuesday.
