The company “Armenian Card” issued 24.17 thousand cards in July 2011

YEREVAN, September 16. /ARKA/. Armenian payment system ArCa in August 2011 issued 24170 plastic cards which is by 8.8% more than in August 2010, press-service of the company informed “ARKA”.

In August 2011 the system issued 9037 cards ArCa (increase by 83.5% compared to 2010), 5894 Visa cards (decrease of 55.9%) and 9239 MasterCard (increase by 135%).

Total number of active cards by which transactions are implemented, exceeded 673 thousand in August providing 27.6% growth compared to August 2010.

The number of cards by which transactions were implemented was 433424 in the reporting period versus 341047 in the same period of the last year, of which 248972 are ArCa cards (growth of 20.1%), 112950 – Visa cards (growth of 35.3%), 71502 – MasterCard (growth of 42%).

Weighted average of all plastic cards by which the transactions were implemented was 64%.

“Armenian Card” was established on March 16, 2000 as a united national payment system by plastic cards. Today, 19 of 21 commercial banks of Armenia in any status participate in the payment system ArCa. Different products are circulated in the frames of national system ArCa: types of ArCa Debit, ArCa Classic, ArCa Gold, ArCa Business, ArCa Affinity, ArCa Co-branded, ArCa Platinum and pension cards ArCa.

The company is a full member of international payment system MasterCard Europe, as well as implements processing of VISA cards and American Express (Third Party Processor). –0–
