Currency trading at NASDAQ OMX Armenia in february drops by 22.6% to $44.7 million

YEREVAN, March 13, /ARKA/. A total of $47.7 million (an equivalent of 18.5 billion drams) were sold and bought at NASDAQ OMX Armenia stock exchange in February, according to an ARKA analysis. The figure was 22.6% (about $14 million) less than in the previous month. The overall number of transactions dropped by 17.2% to 366. The largest amount of trading was reported on February 9 when $8.9 million were traded and the lowest on Fevruary 8 when $200,000 were traded. The average exchange rate of USD in February at the stock exchange was 388.91 drams.
In January 2008, Nordic exchange operator OMX Group acquired 100% of shares of the Armenian Stock Exchange (Armex) and the Central Depository of Armenia (CDA). After the combination of NASDAQ and OMX in February 2008, Armex and CDA have become fully owned by the NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc On January 27, 2009, “Armenian Stock Exchange” ojsc was officially renamed as “NASDAQ OMX Armenia” ojsc. On June 5, 2009, “NASDAQ OMX Armenia” ojsc became the owner of 100% of the shares of the “Central Depository of Armenia” ojsc. ($1 – 389.82 drams). -0-
