Mortgage lending by armenian banks grows to 116.8 billion drams by late May

YEREVAN, June 26, /ARKA/. The volume of mortgage loans provided by Armenia-based 21 commercial banks totaled more than 116.8 billion drams at the end of May, having increased by 2.7% from April, the Central Bank of Armenia said in a statement posted on its official website.

It said mortgage loans provided in Armenian national currency, the dram, increased by 0.5% from April to 61.1 billion drams, while loans in foreign currency grew by 5.2% to 55.7 billion drams.

Overall, mortgage loans accounted for 8.5% in the total outstanding loan portfolio of commercial banks, which at the end of May stood at about 1.4 trillion drams, a 3.6% increase from April. ($ 1 -391.14 drams). -0-
