Armenia posts 1.3 percent June deflation

YEREVAN, July 20 /ARKA/. Prices in June 2012 dropped by 1.3%, resulting in a 12-month inflation of 0.7%, well below the lowest projected target, the Central Bank of Armenia said.

“Previous month’s trends mostly preserved in June,’ the bank said, adding that it was mainly due to lowering food prices, which contributed to the overall inflation rate by 1.34 percentage points.

Under these conditions, according to the Central Bank, the ‘natural 12 month inflation rate is being maintained within the boundary close to the projected 4 ± 1.5%, it said. -0-
