Bulk of foreign investments in Armenia arrive from Canada, Russia, Switzerland and France

YEREVAN, July 23. /ARKA/. The bulk of foreign investments in Armenia in the first half of this year arrived from Canada, Russia, Switzerland and France, economy minister Tigran Davtyan said today.

He said Canadian investments amounted to  $43.7 million, Russian – to $27 million, the Swiss invested  $21.5 million and the French  $20.4 million.
The minister said the overall data for the first half was not available yet. He said the picture will clear only by September.

According to Arnstat, foreign investment in the real sector of Armenia in January-March 2012 contracted by 55.5%  compared to the same period of 2011 to $100.5 million (loans obtained by the government and banks not counted)  -0-

Armenia to Receive €120 Million Loan and €15 Million Grant from KfW Bank for Power Grid Connection with Georgia

At a meeting on Thursday, the Armenian government approved the signing of a €120 million loan agreement with the German bank KfW for the "Caucasus Transmission Network - NIF" project to connect the power systems of Armenia and Georgia. Additionally, a €15 million grant agreement with KfW was approved for the "EU Caucasus Transmission Network - NIF. Phase II" project.
