ARCA cards were used in September to make 53 billion drams worth transactions

YEREVAN, October 18. / ARKA /. The total amount of transactions made through Armenian Card (ArCA) payment system in 2012 September stood at 53.6 billion drams, showing a 7.4 percent drop from the same month in 2011, the company told ARKA news agency in a press release. Overall, more than 1.1 billion transactions were made, by 5.4 percent less from 2011 September.

Plastic cards issued by ArCa members, including Mastercards and Visa cards, were used to make
1,078,345 transactions worth 49.7 billion drams, a 6.7 percent drop from the previous month of August.

Visa cards issued by non-members were used to make some 45,243 transactions worth 2.4 billion drams, a 12.6 percent decline over the same month in 2011, while MasterCards were used to make 20,626 transactions worth 1.4 billion drams, a 41.1 percent decline.

Overall, cards were used to make 938,473 cash transactions worth 47.2 billion drams, by 8.7 percent less than in August. They were used also to make 205,741 cashless transactions worth 6.4 billion drams, by 3.4 percent more than in August. The average amount of a transaction was 46,800 drams.

Armenian Card CJSC was established on March 16, 2000 as a united national payment system.

Today 19 of Armenia’s 21 commercial banks participate in ArCa payment system. The company is a full member of MasterCard Europe international payment system. It also processes VISA and American Express (Third Party Processor) cards. ($1 – AMD 407.69). -0-
