Armenian banks’ lending to private companies increase by 0.03 percent to 918 billion drams

YEREVAN, November 12. / ARKA /. Armenian banks’ lending to private companies increased by 0.03 percent in the third quarter from the second quarter to about 918.6 billion drams, according to banks’ interim report, which also say that the overall amount of outstanding lending and other borrowings as of September 30, 2012 stood at 1. 438.9 trillion drams, up from 1. 433.3 trillion drams in the second quarter.

Overall, private companies accounted for some 64 percent of the total lending by Armenian banks.
An analysis made by ARKA news agency shows that the leading bank by size of lending was Ameriabank, which accounted for 14% of the total outstanding loan portfolio in the reporting period. Overall 82.5% or 128.3 billion drams in Ameriabnk’s portfolio were loans to private companies.

Other leaders by size of lending to private companies were HSBC Bank Armenia (109.9 billion drams), Armbusinessbank (83.9 billion drams), VTB Bank (Armenia) (77.1 billion drams) and Areximbank – Gazprombank Group (71.7 billion drams).

Ameriabnk said also that 106.9 billion drams were lent to large enterprises and 21.3 billion drams to small and medium enterprises. HSBC Bank Armenia lent 75.9 billion drams to large enterprises, and 33.9 billion drams to small and medium enterprises. VTB Bank (Armenia) released 69.3 billion drams to large enterprises and 7.8 billion drams to small and medium enterprises. Areximbank – Gazprombank Group issued 67.2 billion drams to large enterprises and 4.5 billion drams to small and medium-sized enterprises, while the figures for Armbusinessbank were 40 billion and 43.9 billion drams respectively.
