Minasyan: economic activity grew by 7.2% and GDP by 7% in Armenia in 2012

YEREVAN, January 29. /ARKA/. The level of economic activity grew by 7.2% in Armenia in 2012, whereas economic growth was 7%, head of parliament commission for finance, credit and budget issues, member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia Gagik Minasyan told journalists Saturday.
“The data on the country’s GDP growth will be published some time later, but, according to the projections, it will stand at about 7%”, Minasyan said.

The head of the commission pointed out that after the crisis considerable changes occurred in the structure of Armenia’s GDP: construction’s share in the GDP dropped somehow, whereas the shares of industry and agriculture grew.

After 2008, decline in construction had continued till 2012 when a small 0.2% rise was recorded in the field, Minasyan said. In 2012, growth rates for industry, agriculture and services were 8.8%, 9.5% and 10% respectively.

Earlier, Armenian minister of economy Tigran Davtyan said that GDP growth, despite being projected at 4.2%, will most probably reach 7% for the year 2012.  –0–
