$121 million bought by Armenian Central Bank at forex market in 2013

YEREVAN, February 26. /ARKA/. In 2013 the Central Bank of Armenia concluded foreign currency sale/purchase transactions totaling $121 million, the regulator sys in its monthly bulletin for December 2013.

The central bank purchased foreign currencies at the forex market in all the months of that year but February and March, and sold in March and September – it sold currencies equal to $48.8 million.

The regulator made intensive interventions at the forex market in 2013 mainly by buying currencies.
According to its figures, despite foreign exchange rate volatility, the national currency was devaluating throughout 2013.

The 2013 average exchange rate was $1= AMD 409.63 against $1=AMD 401.76 in 2012. —0—
