Individual money transfers to Armenia grow 3% to $144.6 million in May 2014

YEREVAN, July 2. / ARKA /. More than $144.6 million came to Armenia through banks as individual noncommercial money transfers in May 2014 – a 3% year-on-year growth and 8.5% month-on-month growth, the Central Bank of Armenia reports on its website.

About $25.7 million was transferred from Armenia abroad in May 2014 against $25.2 million in May 2013.

Net inflow in Armenia amounted to about $118.9 million in May 2014 against $115.3 million in May 2013.

The inflow from Russia was larger than from other countries – about 83.2% (about $120.4 million and 1.3% year-on-year growth) of the total amount of individual remittances to Armenia in May 2014 and outflow from Armenia to Russia amounted to $15.8 million (7.3% growth).

According to the central bank, $1 869.7 million was transferred to Armenia in 2013 – 17.3% of the country’s GDP. ($1 – AMD 407.85). —-0—
