Transactions worth AMD 7.5 bln made abroad by using Armenian banks’ cards in October

YEREVAN, December 17. /ARKA/. About 187,000 transactions were made by using Armenian commercial banks’ plastic cards outside the country in October 2014 (about 1.6% month-on-month growth), the Central Bank of Armenia says in a fresh issue of its monthly bulletin.

Total amount of these transactions was about AMD 7.5 billion – a 5.7% month-on-month growth.

Non-cash transactions amounted to around AMD 5.6 billion – 4.2% more than in September 2014.

According to the report, AMD 1.9 billion was withdrawn abroad in October by using Armenian banks’ plastic cards – 5.4% less than in September (AMD2.04bln).

Twenty one commercial banks operating in Armenia’s territory provided and served plastic cards in late October 2014. Of them, 19 are participants of ArCa payment system. ($1 – AMD 490.34). –0–

Central Bank leaves refinancing rate unchanged taking into account high uncertainty in US economic policy

The Central Bank of Armenia decided today to leave the refinancing rate unchanged at 6.75% taking into account a set of factors such as  the continued high uncertainty surrounding the US economic policy, declining confidence in the global economy, growth slowdown and  a possible  weakening demand in Armenia, the head of the regulator Martin Galstyan said at a press conference on Tuesday.
