Government asks central bank to reconsider its agricultural and inflation projections

YEREVAN, May 21. / ARKA /. The Armenian government has asked the Central Bank to revise upward its earlier forecast for agricultural growth  and downward its inflation prediction, deputy finance minister Vakhtang Mirumyan told a Cabinet session today.

He said under the government’s monetary policy program for 2015 the industrial production is expected to accelerate by 4.1% -4-6%. The deputy minister noted also that the Central Bank predicted a twelve-month inflation at 5.5-7% for the first quarter, while the actual inflation was 5.8%.

According to him, the government projection of agricultural output in 2015 is 3.5-4.5%, but the latest data suggest a more optimistic outcome and a lower inflation.

He said these factors in mind the government has asked the Central Bank to revise its earlier forecasts.

The government believes also that in order to ensure price stability the monetary policy should be more flexible to be able respond to external and internal developments by continuing structural reforms. -0-
