“If as a result of a road accident the property damage claim of the not guilty party does not exceed 50,000 drams (about $100), the involved parties are allowed to themselves fill in the declaration for property damage claim without having to contact their insurance companies and the police. The new procedure is aimed at facilitating and speeding up the reimbursement on part of the insurance company’, the Car Insurers Bureau said in a statement.

The new reconciled declaration and instructions how to fill it in are available on the official website of the Bureau. The Bureau also advises motorists to have several copies of the declaration in their cars.
Also from March 4, car owners will be required to mention in mandatory car insurance contracts their e-mail address to receive all relating notices.

The move is aimed at shifting to complete electronic form of reporting road accidents. Ultimately, this will allow to quickly and accurately inform all the parties of accidents and reduce the process of obtaining claim compensation to 5-10 days.

The number of insured cars has grown from 390,457 in 2011, when mandatory car insurance was introduced in Armenia, to 457,878 in 2015. ($1 – 493.38 drams). -0-
