Armenia’s public debt in 2019 to stabilize within 50% of GDP

YEREVAN, September 27. /ARKA/. Armenia’s public debt in 2019 is expected to stabilize within 50% of GDP, Finance Minister Atom Janjughazyan said at a government meeting on Thursday, when presenting the draft state budget for 2019. According to the minister, in 2018 the public debt is expected to make up 50.4% of GDP.

According to the National Statistical Committee, Armenia’s aggregate state debt at the end of August 2018 stood at $6.762.5 billion, having increased by $3.5 million from the previous month. When compared to the beginning of the year it was down by $12.1 million.

In late August the government-owed debt stood at $6.182.7 billion, including $4.856.8 billion worth external debt ($15.1 decrease) and the domestic debt worth $1.325.8 billion ($15.4 million increase). The Central Bank’s debt at the end of August was $579.8 million (an increase of $ 1.4 million). -0-

The average market exchange rate of the U.S. dollar to the Armenian dram on March 7, 2025, remained at 394.58 drams, unchanged compared to March 6.
