Non-performing loans in Armenian banks make 4.67 percent

YEREVAN, August 10. /ARKA/. In June,  non-performing loans of Armenian commercial banks stood at 4.67% of the total, Executive Director of the Union of Banks of Armenia (UBA) Seyran Sargsyan said at a press conference on Monday.

“Last year, in the same month, they also stood at around  4-5%. The highest indicator this year was recorded in March – 5.08%, however it gradually decreased by June,” he said.

According to him, as a result of  credit  holidays provided by the banks and revision of loan contracts  prompted by the coronavirus crisis, the loans that could replenish the list of non-working loans are  classified today as standard loans.

Sargsyan refrained from making forecasts for the near future. “Let’s see what the situation will be in the autumn. I mean the  spread of the coronavirus and its consequences. However, I would like to make one remark –  the contracts of clients who faced difficulties in this situation and had problems with servicing loans have already been revised and I believe  if there is no sharp change in the situation, then we do not foresee serious deviations regarding this figure either, ” he said -0-
