Executive director of UBA does not rule out a possible merger or acquisition in local banking sector

YEREVAN, February 16. /ARKA/. The Executive Director of the Union of Banks of Armenia (UBA) Seyran Sargsyan didn’t rule out  a possible merger or acquisition in the local banking sector in 2022, saying also that new players may appear in the market as well.

“Such transactions are not made public until the deal is finalized. I don’t rule out such a deal or deals, but now I can’t say specifically whether they will happen or not,” he said at a press conference on Wednesday.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia Martin Galstyan said in this regard that bankers and investors are constantly discussing mergers, sales and new investments.
