Austrian insurance group GRAWE interested in entering the insurance business in Armenia

YEREVAN, February 3. /ARКА/. The Austrian insurance firm GRAWE is keen on entering the Armenian insurance market. This was revealed by GRAWE’s CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Klaus Scheitegel, during a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday.

Scheitegel shared insights about GRAWE’s operations in various countries. He mentioned that the company has been effectively collaborating with the Central Bank of Armenia and is eager to continue discussions regarding investment program implementations, as reported by the Armenian government’s press service.

The two parties explored the potential for GRAWE to enter the Armenian insurance market.

Prime Minister Pashinyan highlighted the significance of attracting reputable international firms to the insurance sector and the ongoing development of this industry. He affirmed that the Armenian government is open to constructive collaboration and discussions on future initiatives.

Additionally, he pointed out the successful role of the C-Quadrat investment group in Armenia.

A delegation led by Andreas Wimmer, Managing Director and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the C-Quadrat Investment Group, was also present at the meeting.

In December 2025, Martin Galstyan, the Governor of the Central Bank of Armenia, announced that GRAWE Group (Austria) and C-Quadrat Investment Group (Austria) had finalized an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares of the Armenian insurance company LIGA.

The Central Bank anticipates that this transaction will bring European insurance standards, enhanced risk management practices, and further investment into Armenia’s expanding insurance sector.
