Central Bank: Starting July 1, consumers in Armenia will be able to block online financial transactions with a single tap

YEREVAN, March 11. /ARKA/. Starting July 1, 2026, consumers in Armenia will be able to block online financial transactions with a single tap, via mobile banking or a financial institution’s website, the Central Bank of Armenia press service reported.

“For example, mobile banking will allow users to block online loan applications, withdrawals from deposit or savings accounts, and other online transactions. Unblocking will only be possible after identifying the consumer and verifying their identity,” the statement noted.

The Central Bank stated that this tool will allow consumers to better control financial transactions made in their name and will enhance protection against fraud.

Before the tool is launched by financial institutions, the Central Bank will provide additional information to consumers about its application and capabilities.

Details of the regulation are provided in Regulation 8/09 “Minimum Requirements for the Implementation of Self-Restriction Instruments for Consumers of Financial Services.”

The Central Bank indicated that after July 1, the presence of such an instrument will become mandatory for banks, branches of foreign banks, credit institutions, and payment and settlement organizations that process money transfers and provide financial services remotely.
