Armenia to receive $30 mln. from WB for competitiveness of technologies

YEREVAN, November 30. /ARKA/. Armenia will receive $30 million from the World Bank as credit for strengthening competitiveness of technologies, Vache Kirakosyan, chief of Armenian economy ministry’s information technologies division, said Monday at Novosti International Press Center.

He said that the WB mission arrived Sunday in Yerevan for discussing the credit program.

“The $30-million credit program is planned to be implemented in cooperation with the economy ministry,” he said.

Although the program’s components are still under consideration, the funds are planned to be targeted for technological innovations, such as creation of a high-speed broadband Internet network in Armenia.

The tender is expected to be announced in the first quarter of 2010.

The program also implies enhancement of computer availability and various services aimed at making ties between the government, businessmen and the community closer. -0–
