Forex deals worth $71.6 million effected at NASDAQ OMX Armenian stock exchange in October

YEREVAN, November 3. /ARKA/. Forex deals worth $71.6 million or AMD 25.8 billion were effected at NASDAQ OMX Armenian Stock Exchange in October.

ARKA News Agency’s analysis based on the stock exchange’s figures shows that the October’s amount is 18.3% ($11.1 million or AMD 3.8 billion) larger than that of the previous month.

The number of foreign exchange transactions grew by 227 in October, compared with September, to 669.

The largest amount ($7 million) was recorded on October 25 and the minimal ($400,000) on October 14.

Not a single deal on the euro was effected here in October.

NASDAQ OMX Armenia (former Armenian Stock Exchange, Armex), was established in 2001 as a voluntary merger of 21 broker (dealer) companies.

In January 2008, Nordic exchange operator OMX Group acquired 100% of shares of the Armenian Stock Exchange (Armex) and the Central Depository of Armenia (CDA). After the combination of NASDAQ and OMX in March 2008, Armex and CDA have become fully owned by the NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc.

On January 27, 2009, Armenian Stock Exchange was renamed NASDAQ OMX Armenia.
