Rosgosstrakh-Armenia insurance company settles 350 cases paying 55 million drams as compensation

YEREVAN, February 16, /ARKA/. Rosgosstrakh-Armenia insurance company has settled so far 350 cases involving car damages, having paid 55 million Drams as compensation, the company’s chief executive Gagik Grigorian told a news conference today.

He said the company’s call center has received 5,170 telephone calls this year to have registered 1464 road accidents involving its clients. The biggest per day cases were reported on February 1 (140) and February 4 (70) when the weather deteriorated drastically.

Gagik Grigorian said another 1000 applications were under consideration. He said the company may pay as much as 300 million Drams in compensations. An average compensation payment is 162,000 Drams. Rosgosstrakh-Armenia is the leader in the car insurance market holding 36%.

The mandatory insurance against physical damage caused to other cars and individuals became mandatory in the country on January 1, in accordance with a government-drafted law passed by the Armenian parliament last year.
