About 12 Thousand Pensioners In Armenia Are Served By The Cards Of Bank VTB (Armenia)

YEREVAN, May 18. /ARKA/. Bank VTB (Armenia) serves about 50 thousand pensioners, of which 12 thousand are served by the cards, said General Director, Chairman of Directorate of the Bank VTB (Armenia) Valeri Ovsyannikov in the international press-center “Novosti”.

From 2011, new procedure of pension payments operate in Armenia, which is implemented through the banks of and payment systems Armenia. Payments of pensions by the new order started from March 2011 in the country.

“Now we serve about 50 thousand pensioners which is about 10% of total size of payments in the country”, he said answering the questions of “ARKA” news agency.

Ovsyannikov said that the bank aims at the increase of the number of cardholder-pensioners and suggests them more convenient services.

There are certain problems and issues in the system of pension payments, but he hoped that the banking system jointly with the government will find solutions for the provision of opportunities for the pensioners to get their pensions by cards any time in any department, branch and ATMs of the bank by the cards.

According to the Ministry of Social Welfare of Armenia, as of December 31, 2010 there live over 519.8 thousand pensioners in Armenia. Average size of pension is 24.7 thousand drams.
