Volume Of Compensations Of Mandatory Car Payments In January-September 2011 Was About 3 Billion Drams In Armenia

YEREVAN, September 26. /ARKA/. Insurance companies of Armenia as of August 31 paid 13.850 compensations by mandatory car insurance in the total amount of 2.85 billion drams. The volume of insurance premiums was about 13.168 billion drams, said Executive Director of the Bureau of Car Insurers Vahan Avetisyan.

“As of August 31 about 373 thousand transport means was insured in Armenia. The number of applications on the payment of compensation was about 15 thousand. Applications were not met only in 89 cases”, said Avetisyan in the parliament hearings dedicated to the results of eight months of operation of mandatory car insurance in Armenia.

Currently, compensations of 1 billion drams are in process.

“Most of the compensation – 91.6% is paid for the damage of real estate, 3.75 – causing harm to health, 4.3% – other personal harm, 0.4% – compensation of expenses related to the death of the citizen”, he said.

Insurance payments implemented by the Bureau of Car Insurers within eight months of 2011 were 33 million drams, of which 19.3 million was paid for the damage of real estate, 13.7 – personal harm and harm to the health.

“According to the data of the Police department of Armenia as of August 31 about 465 thousand transport means and 17 873 (13 thousand of which insured) in NKR is compensated which allows to make conclusion that 78-79% of cars in Armenia are insured”, he added.
