Prime minister of Armenia congratulated the banking workers of Armenia with their professional holiday

YEREVAN, November 22. /ARKA/. Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan on Tuesday congratulated the banking workers of Armenia with their professional holiday and wished them new achievements, press-service of the government informed ARKA News Agency.

“Today in Armenia we celebrate the Day of Banking Worker. This date has its firm place in the history, as on this day in 1993 national currency of independent Armenia – dram, was put into circulation. Today we celebrate together 18th anniversary of national currency. As any young man, AMD faced many difficulties in the way of its development, national currency evolved in parallel with the establishment of the banking system”, said Sargsyan.

Due to the banking workers, the banking system in Armenia became one of the developed spheres of economy which in about two decades of its operation recorded progress. Even in crisis year 2009 the banking sector demonstrated its ability to face the challenges of unfavorable global economic environment.

“Armenian banking system is one of the few in CIS and even in the world which did not require any interference in facing the crisis”, states Sargsyan’s message.

Sargsyan said that thanks to the staff of the banking system, its risks are in line with the best international practices and always within acceptable limits of control, as evidenced the growth of public confidence in the banking sector.

“Confirmation of this in the past two years has been a steady increase in the total volume of deposits, the rate of which in September 2011 exceeds the similar rate by 76% in 2009. Other indicators have also such a positive dynamics characterizing the banking system, particularly crediting volumes have been increased and percent rates decreased”, said Sargsyan.

However, Sargsyan is confident that along with these achievements, there is a lot of work to do in this sphere. “We should not forget that the banking system bears a great responsibility, as its has a big role in dynamic development of economy”, said Sargsyan. –0–
