3% year-on-year inflation in Armenia in February 2012

YEREVAN, March 1. /ARKA/. Armenia recorded 3% year-on-year inflation in February 2012, National Statistical Service reports.

According to the statistical report, the inflation was mainly due to 3.7% increase in prices for foods, alcoholic drinks and cigarettes.

Prices for services rose 2.1% in February 2012, compared with the same month a year before.

Year-on-year consumer price index was 103.9% in Jan-Feb 2012.

Index of food, spirits and tobacco prices was 104.5%, nonfood prices 103.6% and services 102.8%.

In February compared with the previous month, consumer price index slipped 0.9%.

Prices for foods, alcoholic drinks and cigarettes went 1.6% and nonfoods 0.2% down, while services prices remained unchanged.

The statistical service says that consumer prices fell 1.2-0.2% in all the countries under review in February, compared with January, with the greatest decrease in the city of Talin. In Yerevan, consumer prices went 1% down.

In the 2012 government budget, inflation is projected at 4% (±1.5%). -0-
