Deposits in Armenian commercial banks drop 0.9% to AMD 1014,3 bln in March

YEREVAN, April 27. /ARKA/. Deposits in Armenian commercial banks slip by 0.9 % late in March to nearly 1 014,3 billion drams from earlier this year.

According to the information available on the Armenian Central Bank’s official website, deposits in drams totaled nearly AMD 328 billion in March 2012 after growing 6.2 %, compared with December 2011, and deposits in foreign currencies tumbled by 3.9 % to nearly AMD 686.3 billion within the reported period.

Residents’ deposits jumped by 3.9 p.p. in March of this year from December 2011 to AMD 795.1 billion and accounted for 78.4% of aggregate dram deposits in Armenian banks.

As of March 31, 2012, there are 21 commercial banks in Armenia. ($1 – 392.49 drams).—0–
