2.5% year-on-year inflation recorded in Armenia in August 2012

YEREVAN, August 31. /ARKA/. Armenia faced a 2.5% year-on-year inflation in August 2012, the National Statistical Service reported on Friday.

The inflation was mainly due to a 4.7-percent growth in prices for nonfoods.
According to the statistical report, prices for foods, alcoholic drinks and tobacco rose 1.7% in August 2012, compared with the same month a year earlier.

Year-on-year consumer price index was recorded at 102.2% in Jan-Aug 2012. The index of prices for foods, spirits and cigarettes was 101.5%, nonfoods 104.0% and services 102.1%.
Consumer prices went 0.4% down in August 2012, compared with the previous month, foods, strong alcoholic drinks and cigarettes became 0.9% cheaper, while nonfood prices rose 0.1% and prices for services remained unchanged.

In the 2012 government budget, inflation is projected at 4% (±1.5%). -0—
