European market not perspectives for Armenian jewelry- AJA President

YEREVAN, October 30. /ARKA/. Armenian jewelers are not focusing on the European market today, as it is not perspective for them due to the crisis, a president of Armenian Jewelers Association (AJA) Gagik Gevorgyan said Tuesday.

“We are more interested in the Russian market. Also, the Armenian jewelers are efficiently working at China’s markets, Hong Kong, and, of course, the USA. As to the European market, it is in a deep crisis now, and we don’t have big plans with it,” Gevorgyan said at “Prospects for Armenian jewelry development” conference in Yerevan.

Many jewelers, according to him, who live in the Arabic countries, want to visit Armenia and work here, as the situation at the markets of the Middle East is unstable.

He also said a number of Arabian jewelry companies had been already interested in opening branches in the free economic zone in Armenia. However, he didn’t name these companies.

“Prospects for Armenian jewelry development” conference is held within the framework of the Second jewelry exhibition, where one can find works of jewelers from 20 countries worldwide, such as Armenian, Russia, the U.S., Thailand, Italy, France, Lebanon and India.

The Armenian Jewelers Association (AJA) was established in 1997. It is one of the first international trade association in Armenia. AJA’s goal is to bring Armenian jewelers together to develop the country’s jewelry industry. The Association has regional representatives on the west and east coasts of the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and in Armenia. ($1 – 405.73 drams). -0-
