Single currency inevitably to be introduced in Customs Union Member Countries

YEREVAN, November 16. /ARKA/. A single currency will inevitably be introduced in the territory of the Customs Union established by Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said today as met with members of the Club of Chief Editors from the Commonwealth of Independent States, Baltic countries and Georgia.

“This will benefit Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus,” he said. “Having a single currency will benefit their economies and citizens. Why have national currencies and lose money from account settlement?”

Sargsyan said that there is a growing conviction that no country is going to live at the expense of others.

“The Customs Union is already close to it, and I think that in some five years of adjusted monetary and budget policies everybody will see the necessity of a single currency,” the premier said.
Members of the Club of Chief Editors from the CIS, Baltic countries and Georgia gathered in Armenia on November 15 for a three-day session.

The Club was established in 2011 at the European and Asian Media Forum in Astana. -0—
