Armenian commemorative coin named winner of Vicenza Numismatica contest

YEREVAN, November 18, / ARKA /. An Armenian commemorative coin released last year to mark the 500 years of Armenian printing has been recognized the winner in the Best Coin of the World nomination at the 10th International Vicenza Numismatica contest, held in the Italian city of Vicenza, the Central Bank of Armenia told ARKA.

It said the contest featuring commemorative coins released last year, ran in September -November having attracted representatives of numerous organizations and mints.

The awards were given in two categories – the Best Coin of the World and the Best Coin Depicting Architectural Structure.

The international jury appreciated the unique combination of the modern design of the Armenian coin’s obverse and its Armenian classical design of the reverse.

The contours of the coin were designed by Vardan Vardanyan. It was minted by the Royal Mint in the Netherlands. -0-
