EBRD intends to approve agenda of cooperation with Armenia – first vice-president

YEREVAN, October 21./ARKA/. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) intends to approve the agenda of cooperation with Armenia due to new developments in the country, EBRD first vice-president Philip Bennett said at his meeting with Armenia’s minister of economy Karen Chshmarityan.

Bennett said enhancing access to resources in local currency, improving municipal infrastructures and expanding financial mediation in Armenia are still urgent issues for the EBRD, the press office of the Armenian ministry of economy reports.

Chshmarityan, in turn, appreciated the continuous and efficient cooperation between Armenian and the bank and expressed confidence further deepening of cooperation will be possible soon.

The minister stressed Armenia continues its cooperation with the EU, along with its EEU membership.

The sides discussed regional developments and ongoing and future EBRD projects in Armenia.

Armenia joined the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) on October 10 in Minsk. The EEU treaty will come in force on January 1, 2015.

Since declaration of independence in Armenia the EBRD has implemented some 130 projects worth a total of about 731 million euros in the country. –0–
