Card transactions hike to 108.2bln in Armenia in September

YEREVAN, November 21. /ARKA/. Total volume of all card transactions in Armenia amounted to about 108.2bln drams in September, an increase of 3.7% compared to August, reads the Central Bank of Armenia monthly information bulleting for September 2014.

Number of card transactions in the period totaled 2,125,270 (5% increase).

Card transactions processed through the Internet amounted to a total of 1.7 billion drams as of the end of September (about 6.9% increase). Total number of these transactions was 135,127 in the period (5.8% increase).

Card transactions through ATMs amounted to a total of 83.8 billion drams as of the end of September (2.8% increase); the number of transactions was 1,739,386 (5.7% increase).

Card transactions via POS terminals and imprinters amounted to about 22.6 billion drams in the reporting month (7.1% increase); the total number of such transactions was 250,757 (approx. 0.1% increase). ($1=417.13drams).–0–

Chairman of Central Bank: Interest rates on loans for bona fide SMEs may decrease by 1-1.5%

The Central Bank of Armenia has initiated a program to support small and medium-sized businesses, under which interest rates on loans for companies with good credit and tax histories may be reduced by 1-1.5%, stated Central Bank Chairman Martin Galstyan.
