Armenia had third lowest inflation rate among former Soviet republics

YEREVAN, JANUARY 19. / ARKA /. Armenia had the third lowest inflation rate among some former Soviet republics last year, according to Gurgen Martirosyan, head of a department of the National Statistical Service (NSS).

According to the National Statistical Service, consumer prices last year grew by 4.6% from the previous year. Martirosyan said last year’s inflation in Ukraine surged by 24.9%, in Belarus it jumped by 16.2%, in Russia it was 11.4% and in Kyrgyzstan it soared by 10.5%. The lowest rates of inflation were reported by Tajikistan – 3.6% and Georgia – 2%.

The Armenian government projection of inflation for 2014 was 4% (± 1.5%). The same forecast is made for 2015. -0-
