Central Bank issues silver commemorative coin dedicated to centennial of Armenian Genocide

YEREVAN, February 27. / ARKA /. Armenia’s Central Bank said it has issued a silver commemorative coin dedicated to the centennial of the Armenian Genocide.

It said the obverse of the coin depicts memorials commemorating the victims of the Armenian Genocide. Particularly, a monument in Russian city of Izhevsk, a monument to composer Komitas in Paris, a khachkar (cross stone) in Armenian Echmiadzin, another cross-stone in Glendale, USA and the Genocide Memorial in Yerevan).

The coins have inscriptions on the obverse ‘Republic of Armenia” (in Armenian), “100 drams», «Republic of Armenia» and «Armenian Genocide» in English.

The reverse depicts monuments memorializing the victims of the Armenian Genocide in Armenian Ujan, another monument in the form of an eagle in Aleppo, Syria, part of a memorial plaque of a woman in Brazilian Sao Paulo and a cross-stone in Belgian Antwerp. The coins have inscription- “Armenian Genocide”, “1915-2015.” The face value of 1000 coins is 100 drams.

In addition, the Central Bank has issued a silver coin “200th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Lazarev Institute” with a face value of 100 drams, coins “Andranik Ozanyan-150» with a face value of 1000 drams and a coin ‘Panos Terlemezyan 150.’ -0-
